I’d like to take a moment and tell you all about a great new monthly meme that my sweetest, dearest friend Mrs. Sharon White is hosting. It’s called House Account Monthly—A Prudent Homemaker, and it’s design and purpose is to help wives and mothers get a firm grip on their monthly spending.
The plan is to have each of us record in our choice of “ledger” (software program, notebook, etc.) every single transaction we make—especially those “little” purchases that add up fast! (Latte`, anyone?) We should also come up with some sort of “goal” or purpose for our spending/saving. For example, whittling down a certain medical bill, saving for a vacation, learning to live more frugally---whatever the case is for you/your family.
Then on the 1st of each month, we answer the Monthly Check-In Questions and sign the Mr. Linky. We’ll then visit each other’s blogs to offer our encouragement and support. Sounds good, right? :)
Oh and here’s another awesome facet--Your children can participate as well! Can you imagine? Talk about your awesome “real world” financial lessons! I definitely plan to have each of my kids do this. It would be a valuable tool in teaching them to manage their money wisely, instead of just spending it on useless junk(Starbucks, candy, toys, video games, etc.).
So what do you think? Are you in? To learn more about this exciting new meme, please click here or on the picture above. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m off to buy a super cheap notebook/ledger! :) (PS: Office Depot has a 6 pks of spiral notebooks on sale for only $2. I think I’ll head over there!)
