Review: Lobster Network

I must admit that—aside from the occasional tuna sandwich – seafood really isn’t my thing. I like watching Deadliest Catch but get kinda creeped out by the sight of all those crabs. However, Lobster Network has nothing to do with real seafood or its procurement.

Lobster Network is a free website where folks like you and me can buy, sell, trade, loan and catalog our wares with ease. All  you have to do is:

  • Create your free account
  • List your items
  • Search for items.
  • Request those items.
  • Enjoy those items. It’s that simple!

Lobster Network even allows you to set due dates for your item’s return (great for movies and books!) and will even send out reminder emails so you don’t have to be the “bad guy”. ;)

Furthermore, Lobster Network makes a great cataloging resource for your most prized possessions, such as jewelry and family heirlooms, for insurance purposes.

And finally, items you wish to sell are added to their “Marketplace” where (get this) there’s NO listing fee!!! (How cool is that?)

Now you may be thinking, “All this sounds great. But how do I keep unsavory types from eyeballing my stuff?”

Excellent point, and thankfully Lobster Network has you covered!

By creating or joining other groups, your items will only be viewable to those folks within that same group. These groups—or “communities” as they’re called—can be set to either public or private status, meaning you gain access by invitation only. What’s more is that you have the right to approve or reject any request that’s made with a click of the mouse. Voila! No unsavory borrowers! :)

This site would be a great option for:

  • Homeschool co-ops and church lending libraries
  • Hyper-organized, just-short-of-owning-a-label-maker people.
  • Direct Sales/Home business owners: Keep careful track of your inventory, whether it be Pampered Chef or Creative Memories.
  • Yard Sale organization/planning: Know exactly what you’ve got lurking in your garage!
  • Coupon swapping! (Helloooo!)
  • Organizing/swapping seasonal clothing items: FYI, I’m looking for girls’ shorts. (Ahem)

Now I haven’t had the time or patience to catalog everything I’m willing to loan out just yet. However--local friends take note--when that feat’s accomplished, I’ll be asking you to join my community! :)

I highly encourage you to check out Lobster Network today. You have nothing to lose because, like I said—it’s all FREE, baby! And you can’t beat free. ;)
