Daybook Entry

FOR TODAY

Outside my window... bright, bold and growing increasingly warmer sunshine!

I am thinking... that my A/C usage has officially placed me on my electric company's Christmas card list.

I am thankful for... my awesome husband.

From the kitchen... I just ate a burrito (left overs from last night). Lots of meat, salsa--yum!!!

I am wearing... lavender shorts and a black T-shirt. Yes, I'm a total fashionista.

I am creating... my To Do list for the day. Which is kinda starting to freak me out as it grows longer 'n longer.

I am going...to have to suck it up and take my kids to/from their respective classes this afternoon/evening. In the heat. And I don't wanna.

I am reading... too many books at once! :o)  I've got "Blind Hope" (it's a review book), "Never Say Never" (another review book), and several library books about homeschooling through high school and writing transcripts.

I am hoping... that Dean's doctor appointment this afternoon goes well.

I am hearing... Fernando attack his toy sock. He's growling and whipping it back 'n forth. Attack, chihuahua!! ATTAAAAACK!!!

Around the house... the usual daily cleaning. It drives my kids nuts but they'll understand one day. If not, there's always hope that their spouses keep things clean! {Hee hee}

One of my favorite things... is daydreaming about my coronation when I officially become Queen of Everything. Ahh...bliss.

A few plans for the rest of the week: ballet, tae kwon do, chuch and--wait for it--our 12th anniversary!!!! (Jeepers, can you believe it? Twelve whole years?! Like...in a row!)

Here is picture for thought I am sharing...

This was taken on our 10th anniversary when we renewed our vows.
Pretty neat, huh? We're standing under a gorgeously decorated chuppah!

Daybook Entry

For Today... March 17, 2010

Outside my window... with my luck, probably more rain and wind! I don't know how the rest of the world is marveling over the signs of Spring when it still looks like Autumn over here in Washington. {Sigh} So unfair...

I am thinking... that I really hope Dean's cortisone injections later today (in his neck) actually help ease his constant pain. :o/ What was the point of that $80k surgery anyway??? I forget.

I am thankful for... the coupons and double-coupons I have for cereal, sitting on my counter just waiting to be redeemed later today! (0.59/each for 4 boxes of cereal?! Hello!)

From the kitchen... I'm thinking tonight's supper will be that WanChai Ferry Sweet 'n Sour Chicken. We've got a busy night with both ballet and Youth Group, and that's a super-fast meal to make. ;o)

I am wearing... I'm actually still in my workout clothes. {Ahem} Shorts, tank top, sneakers...sweaty ponytail...ick. I'm gross.

I am creating... a extremely lengthy To Do List filled with TOS Crew reviews, book reviews, blog tours, and Vala assignments/ideas PLUS another list consisting of things I still have to do to prepare for Abby's birthday on Friday. Like say, buy her a present and bake her cake! {Ahem}

I am going... to buy more chai later. I've decided I deserve it. :o)

I am reading... A few books for review; "An Absence So Great" by Jane Kirkpatrick and..hmm..there's another one but I can't think of the title at the moment. Oops! And two more books from the library that count as "brain candy".

I am hoping... to get as much work done today as possible. Wish me luck, as I'm already procrastinating obviously. :o/ And I'm also hoping no one decides to give me a St. Patty's Day pinch. I'll have to pinch back this time.

I am remembering...that today only comes around once. Make it count.

I am hearing... little birdies chirping outside my window. And I'm sure I'll soon hear the sounds of my children waking up for the day.

Around the house... I have tons of "detail" cleaning I'd like to accomplish like walls, baseboards, ceiling corners, vacuuming under beds. That sort of thing.

From the learning rooms... Well, being that today's St. Patrick's Day, I suppose an impromptu lesson about said "saint" would be appropriate. As well as discussing a few other traditions and historical aspects of Ireland. This would be in addition to our usual list of subjects, of course. ;o]

One of my favorite things... seeking out new curriculum to use in our homeschool! I'm such a curriculum junkie, it's disgusting! ;o] My latest favorite is the new Monarch online program through Alpha Omega. Have you seen it? It looks soooo cool!

Pondering these words... "When is Passover again?!" {Gulp} I'd better get movin'!

A few plans for the rest of the week.... Well, we've got friends coming over to play on Thursday, ballet and taekwondo classes for the kids, Abby's 10th birthday on Friday, I'm going to Pacific Northwest Ballet on Saturday to review 3 By Dove, and Abby's birthday party is on Sunday morning at Chuck E. Cheese's. Whew!

Here is a picture thought I am sharing... This is me, having a bad hair day. :o)

Daybook Entry

For today: March 3rd, 2010

Outside my window...Wow, there's actually sun! Hmm. Wonder if that means it's warm? Nah. Probably not. :)

I am thinking... how I was just thinking the week before how I hadn't been sick in awhile. And now I'm sick. And so is my son. And possibly my oldest.

I am thankful for... over the counter medication! Seriously. We've gone through a lot of it since Sunday. Ugh.

I am wearing... jeans and a sweater. Yeah. I'm fancy like that.

I am remembering... to embrace my children's individual personalities and not make knee-jerk decisions based on what others may think of me as a Mom. That's why my oldest is going to a concert in May. And has red streaked hair. And wears skinny jeans and black Converse shoes. Or something like that.

I am going... to Albertsons later to infect the masses with my plague. That and to use my coupons with their current sales. Because I'm Frugalicious like that. ;) (Hmm...is that even a word? Well, if it's a real word it's kinda dumb. I regret even saying it, actually.) I'd also like to pick up some holds at the library. I love books...

I am reading... An Absence So Great by Jane Kirkpatrick. It's for a review. ;)  I'll have a giveaway soon, too. Stay tuned!

I am hoping... that I'm healthy by tomorrow, as that's Abby's Parent Watch Day at ballet. I hate missing things like that. Actually, I never miss things like that! But at the same time, I don't want to breathe on anyone, either. {Sigh}

I am hearing... Ethan coughing is brains out. Abby talking back to her computer. The dryer spinning our clothes dry. Sierra watching something on TV (and coughing her brains out).

On my mind... The Paramore concert tickets I bought for Sierra this morning. She's very excited. :) I just hope Dean can handle it. (Hee hee) I'm not going because I don't "do" crowds or "loud" anything. Not my cup o' tea.

Noticing that... Over the counter medication doesn't work so well. :o/

Pondering these words... "Take 2 tablets every 4-6 hrs." That and "Blow your nose, don't keep sniffling!"

From the kitchen... A vast array of medicinals including NyQuil, Children's Tylenol Plus Cold, Walgreen's brand Allergy Cold & Sinus. That's about it. Not sure about supper yet. I should probably start thinking about it though. {Sigh}

From the learning rooms... We're on day three of standardized testing. Goody, goody, gumdrops! (Not)

Around the house... You know, I'm never quite sure how to answer this one.

One of my favorite things... Getting packages in the mail. It's always a treat, even if you know what it is.

From my picture journal... This is Dean, his sister Dyon, and their grandmother Lindy. Lindy passed away from cancer on February 25th. :(

DayBook Entry

FOR TODAY February 16, 2010...

Outside my window... well it was all nice 'n sunny. Let Fernando out to do his business when suddenly a torrential downpour enveloped my house. :/  If you don't like the weather in Washington, wait a minute. It'll change! LOL

I am thinking... Oh, gee where to begin!? Well, I'm thinking about:
  • The stack of review items that need my attention today. (Ahem)
  • I probably should've done more during today's workout; 65 mins on the bike feels as though I wimped out.
  • Dean's grandma who's dying of cancer
  • How much I hate cancer
  • How my youngest laughs like I do. Poor kid.
  • I forgot to pick up a bottle of Drain-O and my tub is yelling at me for it.
  • I'd like to watch a movie tonight but there's nothing I want to see.
  • I would really love to move to downtown Seattle or at least spend more time there.
  • How different my life is from how I originally envisioned it. Not in a bad way, just stating a fact.
  • How today's Fat Tuesday and I'm feeling right at home with that moniker! Ha ha!

I am thankful for... my clean, cozy home and the three healthy children in it. :)

From the learning rooms... Uhh, that would be nothing. We're waiting for a friend to come over and play so we've shelved the school work for the day. (Ahem) We shall resume tomorrow though. :) Much to my children's dismay...

From the kitchen... Tonight we'll have lasagne, garlic bread and salad (if I don't forget to p/u more salad dressing).

I am wearing... Jeans, cute floral top with a sweater, and slippers.

I am creating... Hmm. Would it be bad if I said nothing?

I am going... to stay home today. No wait. Thing 1 and Thing 2 have taekwondo tonight. Oops. Forgot!

I am reading... nothing at the moment. I just finished a book by Jane Porter and the new Sophie Kinsella. :) I wish my favorite authors wrote as fast as I read...(sigh)

I am hoping... that I can somehow manage to lose 5 lbs by my birthday. Maybe even 10! :D On a more serious note, I'm hoping that when Dean's grandma passes it will be both peaceful and pain free.

I am hearing... my children laughing in the next room, the hum of the dryer (love doing laundry--seriously!), and the sound of the street cleaner/sweeper truck outside. Oh, and of course my last two brain cells bouncing around inside my head trying desperately to form a thought...

Around the house... too much junk! I'm having a "Everything looks awful!" kind of day. I also have to find a way to organize all this homeschool stuff. (Fellow TOS Crew members, please feel free to sound off!)

One of my favorite things... Listening to music and dancing. I may not look as polished as I used to, but I still have fun. :)

A few plans for the rest of the week... Same ol' things: ballet, taekwondo, youth group, Sierra's overnighter at a friend's house, church, and repeat! (Less the overnighter...)

Here is picture for thought I am sharing...

This is me with my youngest daughter, Abby. This is the same pic I posted up on Facebook last night, but I figured since all you readers aren't on FB, I'd share it here as well. :) Aren't I thoughtful?

Daybook Entry

FOR TODAY...

Outside my window... billowing, powerful gusts of wind! I just hope our power doesn't go out later.

I am thinking... how amazing new dance company, Whim W'him's performance was last night and how blessed I was to attend. :)

I am thankful for... my awesome job! Where else would a former ballerina-in-training-turned-writer fit in so well?

I am wearing... yoga pants and a long-sleeved top in preparation for my workout.

I am remembering... snippets of last night's performance. That show was so incredible!

I am going... to work on writing my Whim W'him review. :) Other than that, I don't have to really "go" anywhere today. With it being MLK day, Abby's ballet school is closed and I ran my errands the other day, so I'm set.

I am currently reading... The Eat Clean Diet Workout, The Ultimate Guide to Homeschooling, and re-reading Pride & Prejudice.

I am hoping... that my review pleases the dancers and artistic director. (No pressure, right?...*Gulp*)

On my mind... how really good this "Trio" bar is! Yummy! It's got nuts, seeds and fruit in it. (Thanks, Rebecca! You're so good to me!)

Noticing that... one of the thoughts I penned whilst watching the show last night is *exactly* what is written in the program about what that particular piece was supposed to convey...Ugh! On one hand, it's nice to know I was on the right page (mentally) but on the other hand, it's a disaster because I'll have to come up with another way of articulating my thoughts! :o(

Pondering these words...it's too early. I've got nothing, sorry. :)

From the kitchen... nothing happening yet. However, I did just finish cleaning it as no one bothered to clean up while I was out last night. Nothing says "love and appreciation" like coming home to a messy kitchen. (Sigh) Half-kidding.

Around the house... lots of cleaning to do. It's amazing how "dirty" things can get after one day. :o/

One of my favorite things... the stillness of the early morning when the rest of the world (read: my kids) are still asleep. I'm free to write and get so many things accomplished in just a few hours. Love it!

From my picture journal...

FOR TODAY...

Outside my window... pouring rain. Welcome to Washington in January! :)

I am thinking... how I really tend to bite off more than I can chew, thinking I can handle anything and everything that comes my way. Then I get overwhelmed and frustrated and it's all my fault. (I'm laughing on the inside. Really.)

I am thankful for... a job that allows me to work from home, friends who listen to me whine more often than they should, and a husband who works hard despite the fact that he's sick and should probably be in bed.

I am wearing... workout clothes.

I am remembering... my growing To Do list and the fact that by doing this silly daybook entry I'm once again procrastinating. (Ahem)

I am going... to battle the weather later and pick up some cheap groceries, then this evening it's off to Abby's ballet class.

I am currently reading... a review book (Ultimate Guide to Homeschooling) and the latest "brain candy" novel from Jane Porter. Love her!

I am hoping... that today goes well in spite of my growing negative attitude. Although that seems like a serious contradiction in terms! :)

On my mind... as always, way too much! LOL

Noticing that... the sun doesn't fully rise until about 8am and begins to set around 4pm.

Pondering these words... "If you want a workout that gives results, you're gonna have to earn it!"

From the kitchen... well, I have nothing going on in there yet. But at least everything's clean for the moment. :)

Around the house... judging by the sound of the rain? I suspect plenty of puddles! :)

One of my favorite things... a day where I have absolutely nothing going on. An elusive occurance, to be sure. But at the same time, I dispise being bored.

From my picture journal...

This is Fernando's first full day in his new home. Isn't my baby beautiful? :) I love my little dog...

Daybook Entry

For today, December 28, 2009

Outside my window... The sun is shining deceptively bright. It's still very cold outside!

I am thinking... about all that I have to accomplish before the end of the month. Writing deadlines, etc.

I am thankful for... a supportive husband who always backs up my hair brained schemes!

I am wearing... jeans, layers: tank top, followed by sleeveless t-shirt, topped with a sweater, socks, slippers, and Tiffani's heated blanket over my legs. (I get cold, folks. Very, very cold.)

I am remembering... all that I have to do today.

I am going... to have to buy dog food again, even though I'm broke.

I am currently reading... the Craigs List job postings.

I am hoping... to see my latest scheme come to fruition in early 2010! :)

On my mind... see above. There's a lot to think about and consider, so I have to make sure I have all my bases covered and prayed over!

Noticing that... the homemade peanut butter balls (thanks, Mom) I ate yesterday are sticking around in the form of a pimple. Great. Just what I needed.

Pondering these words... "Let your passion for what you do be infectious."

From the kitchen... sparkling clean countertops!

Around the house... Everyone's slowly getting back on track now that Daddy's back at work. Or at least, until New Year's. Then we'll be back to Square One again! :)

One of my favorite things... is working out. Seriously. It's a sickness in some circles but I love it.

From my picture journal...

Daybook Entry

December 21st

FOR TODAY...

Outside my window... Thick gray clouds squeezing out large, heavy raindrops.

I am thinking... about how sad it is that actress Brittany Murphy passed away. I really liked her. I'm also thinking about how fast this year has gone by and how I hope 2010 is a better year.

I am thankful for... the ability to stay home with my kids, my little doggy sleeping beside me, the new can of chai I just cracked open, and the fact that I lost 2 ounces from yesterday. (Yes, I said ounces. Not pounds. I'm happy for the slightest of weight losses.)

I am wearing... jeans, purple hooded top w/ white tank top underneath. Oh yes, and slippers. Can't forget slippers. (My feet are perpetually cold!)

I am remembering...that someday this frustration will end and I can finally rest.

I am going... to scream. Just kidding.

I am currently reading... nothing. I'm book-less. :(

I am hoping... that my brain doesn't explode into a million little pieces. I've got too many things to think about all at once.

On my mind... Actually, what's really on my mind is the fact that I feel like I'm losing my mind. I can't remember anything; can't focus on anything. I feel like I just "woke up" every few seconds in a strange land and don't know how I got there. I'm also thinking about how I wish I could afford to buy everyone I love a gift this year. :o(

Noticing that... I'm turning into my mother and grandmother. Yikes.

Pondering these words... "My head feels like a football. I think I'm gonna die. Tell me, me oh my oh my. Wasn't that a party?" ~ The Rovers

From the kitchen... nothing delightful waiting, unfortunately. But I do plan to mop later today. It's always nice to see a shiny, sparkling floor. :)

Around the house... cleaning, cleaning, cleaning. The usual. Also considering another workout later. I need to increase the cardio a bit more. Looking a little too much like Jell-O's cousin!

One of my favorite things... cake. I love cake. And it loves me, too. (See Jell-O comment above. Ahem.)

From my picture journal...

I'm really missing my uncle today.

Daybook Entry

FOR TODAY...November 30, 2009

Outside my window... the sun is rising, revealing another gray, cloudy day.

I am thinking... my oldest daughter's fascination with the Ultimate Fighting Championships is disturbing. That and I can't believe she'll be 14 one week from today!

I am thankful for...
  • the Lord's acceptance of me despite my many faults,
  • my dear friends who are always there to listen,
  • my cozy home,
  • my employed husband,
  • healthy children,
  • my mother who is always willing to do what she can to help,
  • the fact that I'm able to work from home for a company I love,
  • one of my daughters loves the ballet as much as I do (perhaps more?)
  • and the fact that there's still some chai in my cupboard!

From the learning rooms... we'll be tackling our Latin today, as well as catching up on the assignments and subjects we pushed aside in favor of the holiday last week. I also have to print out a new lesson plan and calendar page.

From the kitchen... Still have plenty of leftover turkey (ugh) that has to be eaten up. Not sure if that should be tonight's supper or not. I'm sure the children will say "NO!"

I am wearing... Sweats and slippers, believe it or not. Yeah, I'm slacking today. *Sigh*

I am creating... a web of chaos in my mind! Ha! No, actually I'm in the process of creating my daily To Do list and it's getting a bit longer than I care to admit.

I am going... to try to remain peaceful and happy today no matter what, and take Abby to ballet later this evening (tonight's her Level III/IV class split).

I am reading... the Bible and re-reading two fiction novels for brain candy. Because I can do that.

I am hoping... for a miracle with our finances! But if that doesn't pan out, I'm hoping to at least find new ways to cut back and stretch every penny. The holidays and Sierra's birthday are fast approaching and I don't know what we're going to do about either one...

I am hearing... the obnoxious sounds of Sierra's UFC fight on TV. (Ugh...) Oh, and the heater just clicked on. That's always comforting.

Around the house... I can see a few cleaning projects that need tending to. Thankfully not too many, but I do have a way of making even the smallest of chores into huge tasks. (Why vacuum the living room when you can vacuum under the beds, along the baseboards, sweep the ceilings, clean out the heating vents...)

Noticing that.... Children really do grow up waaaay too fast, and I'm not ready for it to be over just yet. Also I'm noticing just how uncomfortable this kitchen chair is without a pillow...ahem.

I am remembering... What it was like to be fourteen (yikes), my uncle, and a certain someone who passed away fourteen years ago this week and how they've missed out on so much.

On my mind.... So many people around the world have it worse than I do, and yet I'm still so selfish as to focus on myself and my problems repeatedly. It's disgusting!

One of my favorite things... the ballet. Absolutely the ballet.

A few plans for the rest of the week: See "What I'm Hoping..." above. Also, planning Sierra's birthday party (gulp), on top of the usual taekwondo & ballet classes, and Wednesday's youth group.

Pondering these words... Cancer sucks

Here is a picture for thought I am sharing...
